Well we've had a very busy week in Magnificent Meerkats!
In our English work this week we have begun to develop our own 'innovated' stories based on a story by Pie Corbett called Kidnapped. Some of the children had some really interesting ideas for the changes they could make to the story, from introducing the families of famous people into the story to using some unusual settings. We have also found some aspects of this difficult - it is new to all of us (including me) but we are working really hard.
In Maths we have continued to develop our understanding of Place Value; reading and writing some large numbers, comparing numbers, rounding and the children in Year 5 have also been learning to read and write Roman numerals.
In our Science work we have been learning about how light travels and exploring how the eye works. The children really enjoyed making pinhole cameras. I hope those who chose to bring them home have shown them to you and told you about what they've learned.
We're looking forward to finding out what next week holds for us.
