Last week the children in Year 6 had a great opportunity to improve their cycling skills and learn about safety on the road. The cycle training was led by experienced and patience instructors who gave the children real cycling experience, preparing them for on-road cycling and to recognise typical hazards. All the children who took part in Bikeability really enjoyed the experience and hopefully became more responsible and confident cyclists.
The children in Year 5 have been learning about famous speeches. They analysed persuasive and emotive language, while also planning a debate of their own. We always knew we had some talented and argumentative speakers in the class
The children in Year 6 have been working with the short film ‘ The Ridge’ capturing the Scottish trials cyclist Danny MacAskill. Amazing scenery and music from the film inspired us to write a scenery description. We also wrote a first person recount while imagining it was us tackling the Black Cuillin ridge on a bicycle.
We have been exercising our minds with Geometry once again. The children in Year 5 have been reflecting and translating shapes, While the children in Year 6 have been constructing triangles, quadrilaterals and other 2D shapes.
We have been learning about the famous yet controversial figure, Henry VIII. The children have been gathering information to write an interview script in order to retell the story of one of the most memorable Tudors.
