Last week we took part in British Science Week, which was a truly fascinating and enjoyable time for us all. All the children took part in science assemblies and participated in entertaining and engaging activities organised by teachers.
The Children in 6KM have been investigating air resistance using spinners and constructing pyramids while testing the pyramids properties. We have also enjoyed a very interesting and informative visit from the Dog Trust. We learned a lot about a dog’s senses and the importance of looking after dogs.
In English, Year 5 have been exploring the magical tale ‘The Arrival’ by Shaun Tan. The novel tells the story of an immigrant’s experiences using only pictures. We have been using the book’s wordless images to explore and retell the story.
The children in Year 6 have been writing a newspaper report based on the Ruckus film clip.
The children in Year 5 have been revising their knowledge of fractions in Maths. They have been comparing and finding equivalent fractions.
Year 6 have been working with challenging algebraic activities through the week, looking at nth term and the rules to calculate it.
They have been very persistent at investigating the algebraic formulae for the nth term.
Last week we have been learning about the life process of reproduction in some plants. We have been analysing the structure of a flower and discussing different types of reproduction.
