Spritual,Moral, Social and Cultural Development
AIMS
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development, (SMSC) incorporates PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), (SEAL) Social Emotional Aspects of Learning, Drug and Relationship and Sex Education (RSE).
Across the Federation we aim to facilitate opportunities for the pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives, in order to become responsible adults.
DELIVERY
Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural Development (SMSC) is explicitly taught primarily through the SEAL Programme and citizenship, religious education and incorporated into National Curriculum subject areas where applicable.
PSHE is delivered through the SEAL and Citizenship Programme.
RSE is taught the Derby City recommended scheme of work.
Drug Education is delivered through the Derby City recommended scheme of work.
Religious Education is taught through the Derby City recommended scheme of work.

ADDITIONAL CURRICULUM EVENTS
Assemblies across the Federation follow the SEAL themes. Workshop and Parents Information Evenings are held. Theme days e.g. Anti-Bullying week are recognised. Fund-raising events for specific charities are acknowledged. Festivals from a range of faiths are acknowledged and celebrated. School Visits are undertaken. School Council are used to inform and develop current practice. Extra Curricular Clubs are organised.
