The next term is just about to begin! Hopefully we are all well rested after the nice break and are feeling enthusiastic about returning to school.
Below is a recap of our last week at school.
In English we have finished our work with the Grimm Brother’s story of Hansel and Gretel. The children have practice retelling the story while improving grammar and punctuation. At the end of the week the children had an opportunity to put their knowledge into practice and write a traditional story of their own. We have fabulous writers in 6KM!!
Year 5 have been working hard on decimal numbers. We have been rounding decimals, turning fractions into decimals and vice versa.
The children in Year 6 have been looking at converting units of measure. Children have practice converting length. We hope that all the children remember conversion factors shown on the picture below.
The work with unit conversions will carry on next term.
Well done to the children in Year 6 who completed last year’s Mathematic SATs tests. We are very pleased with their work!
We have been revising our knowledge about the solar system and space. This time our science lesson took place outside, on the playground. The children had to draw detailed pictures of the solar system with chalk. We used our knowledge and artistic skills to turn the playground into a colourful astronomy display.
The children have been learning about the rainforest through researching tribes living in that ecosystem. To present our knowledge we have been writing a dairy of a person living in a rainforest tribe. It was a very exciting and cultural journey for all!
